Sydney Eats Reviews to Thai Nesia

Titillating smells of lemongrass mingled with chargrilling satay assail you as you walk into this gorgeously over-decorated space. Faux windows on one side, heavy drapery, chunky chandeliers and wooden floor add to its charm. Chockers with faithfuls on a wet Sunday night, That Nesia serves food that owes more to Bangkok than Jakarta. Charming service, quality glassware and double clothed-tables (no paper covers here) attract a loyal crowd. Portions are generous and for sharing. Start with betel leaves topped with prawn, peanuts, coconut and flying fish roe $3.50. Follow with salt-and-pepper silken tofu $9, stir-fried morning glory $15, and a roast duck salad with chilli, herbs and roast rice $18. Then perhaps snapper, served three ways: either crisp Thai-style whole fish, as a red curry, or chargrilled, all $29.

De Groots Media Reviews to Thai Nesia

Thai Nesia has stood proudly on its Oxford Street corner for over 20 years, its neon sign a familiar icon for Thai cuisine that goes above and beyond the regular “eat-in or takeaway” joints that clutter Sydney’s suburbs. This restaurant is always bursting at the seams with diners knocking elbows within the snug, yet elegantly decorated, dining room. Hanging daintily from the ceiling is an antique chandelier which, although gorgeous, is slightly at odds with the oriental theme. The curtains, too, are made with beautiful green Thai material but are draped in such a fashion as to conjure up images of an English drawing room. Once seated with a menu, however, your mind will take you on a culinary tour of the fertile lands of South East Asia.

Other Marvelous Reviews to Thai Nesia

A great, no hassle, relaxing place to dine. The staff was lovely, the service was quicker than expected as they were quite busy when we were there. I can't think of many places in Sydney you could get such nice Thai food in a pleasant environment at such low prices. It came out to about $30 a head including entree. Lovely!
